Being part of family, sometime some of you have to carry children with you. Read following tips to avoid any possible mishap.
- Never ever fit a rearward facing child seat in front of an active airbag, it is a lethal combination and is illegal also.
- Always use a child seat suitable for your child. Legally any child under 12 years or less than 135cm tall needs a proper child seat. Though it is minimum legal requirement boosters up to around 150cm.
- Parents shouldn’t do this for sake of law only but but still if this law is violated expect £30 fixed penalty fine or a fine of up to £500.
- Help is available, seat manufacturers will be able to advise you which seat to use and stores such as Mother care have trained staff.
- Children’s grow at different pace but generally speaking you will be looking for a group 0/0+seat for newborns and babies up to nine/15 months(up to 20/22lbs) or(20-40 lbs),group two seat between 4 and 6 years old (33-55lbs) and a group- three seat up to 12 years old or (70lbs).
- Any one older than this still need to wear a conventional seat belt.
- If your car has ISOFIX mounting points it is best to use them. You may need to use an additional top tether or support foot to secure them properly.
