Although this blog is mainly on subject of autos and travel, but then we thought to add up some other related posts which can be of interest for everyone like cheap shopping tips online.
Buying online has overshadowed high street shopping in last couple of years and is set for consistent rise in coming times. Just like any other sector of life, online shopping or bargain hunting grounds have been contaminated with clever and cunning folks. So needless to emphasize that you should take extra care in making sure that your selected product is really cheapest one with value. Otherwise if you are in search of anything specific how you can make sure you are getting exact product at best price.
1- START WITH GOOGLE
It’s not rocket science and many people usually follow this or (more or less) similar procedure. But let me share you with my story why I decided to write this post and share my experience with you. I was looking for a travel system for my first child and found a huge difference in terms of prices on high street. Well as I always go back to my laptop that works like a fairy to bring up all good things for me. Now as all high street retailers quoted between £309-£329.I thought to do bit of net search. I have a habit of using three to five keywords or phrases whenever I have to Google for anything. It’s like using different combinations of words and searching it again and again as Google changes results if you press search button again and again.
Everyone knows Google has it’s own rating and ranking of web pages and so produces results accordingly. Google poduces search results in terms of relevancy to your search query. Google’s results are divided into paid and unpaid sections. Paid results are labeled as sponsored links. It is debatable what listing should be used, paid or sponsored links. Personally I support using sponsored links. Reason is quite obvious that if a seller or trader is 100% sure about quality of his product or service then he will pay Google or any other search engine to promote his site. Making this assumption, I always start and check all of the sponsored links and after browsing each of them, I move on to unpaid links. I usually maintain an equation between paid and unpaid listings that is if I check two sponsored links or websites then I will browse two unpaid as well. Another interesting aspect is that occasionally you will see same companies listed in both paid and unpaid advertisement.
If you feel that you are ready, then search our Google search engine given below for anything you have recently bought or intending to purchase and see how effective your search skills have become.
So whenever you are browsing a site make sure you go into concise description of your required product that is given with each listing. Browse results for couple of pages; don’t just limit yourself to first page or first few results. As you might have noticed that most websites display Google ads, which run on page description basis. It means Google delivers ads based on content of the page assuming that readers of that page may be interested in finding out more about related products or services.See below the Google ads and press on the next/previous buttons given as < > to check all relevant ads.
2- KELKOO
Remember its not Google only which can help you in searching best products at cheapest prices but some specialist websites which carry out a specialized search on all whole web and instantly produce results. Kelkoo is one of the market leaders that have swiftly taken shopping search. With a huge network and wide coverage they cover almost everything. They work slightly in different way from Google as they pick on correct make, model, price and sellers contact detail. Try Kelkoo
for any of these categories or use for any specific item you are looking forward to buy.
Very short and two point strategy which is normally enough but always remember to check few other market places, e.g Ebay and Amazon. It’s nice to run a quick search on Amazon to spot any good deal. Further more we have two other posts, which describe in detail how to get best bargains with highest discounts (up to 99% off) by giving hotlinks to their pages. You can’t claim to be a wise shopper if you buy anything without checking one of the biggest market place of the world i.e. Amazon. Check out Amazon’s search option given below.
As I started this post with my own story, how I started looking for cheap travel system for my first to-be born baby and prices started from £329 and I ended up getting it from online arm of a supermarket at £179,do I need to give percentage of saving I made. Trust me it’s a fortune as I used saving to buy other essentials. Everyone can do this, just spare a 5 minutes and then count on the money, and yes I bought Hauck condor all in 1 travel system and saved precious £150.
